Ave atque vale
The end of the choir year is near. We will be saying a fond farewell with the valedictions at Evensong next Sunday to our Choral Scholars, Organ Scholar, and some of our choristers.
So it is good this week to be saying hello and congratulations to some new choir members. Hello to five new probationers who will be given their surplices and made pro-choristers at Evensong; congratulations to four pro-choristers who will be made full choristers, and given their medallions. As last Sunday’s excellent sermon by one of our current Deputy Head Choristers, Seb Filho, demonstrated, there is a lot that lies ahead for them in the coming year.
And we will also be welcoming our new Cathedral Curate Matt Bray at Evensong. Ordained Deacon yesterday, he starts his Cathedral ministry among us while at the same time serving as joint curate at Harbour Church in Commercial Road. Matt and his wife Fiona are expecting their first baby in September so there will be more congratulations to them in due course.
Welcome, thank you, and every blessing to all of these.

From Chris Richardson Many thanks to all who contributed to the memorable service and celebration on Sunday 18th June and to everyone who sent presents and cards full of good wishes.
