Cathedral Sub-Organist & School Organist
On the appointment of Mr Oliver Hancock as Director of Music at The Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick, Portsmouth Cathedral and The Portsmouth Grammar School invite applications for the post of Cathedral Sub-Organist and School Organist to start on 1st January 2018.
The post involves assisting in the training of choristers, accompanying daily choral worship in the Cathedral, conducting, major concerts, and BBC broadcasts, choir tours (Belgium, Estonia, Italy and Germany in 2015-17) and recordings. The School Organist post, which is 12 hours per week (term time only), involves work with the school choirs, coaching of individual students in aural and theory as well as accompaniment of ensembles and individuals.

Counter-tenors, tenors, basses and Organ Scholar
Portsmouth Cathedral Choir and The Portsmouth Grammar School offer unique opportunities for young counter-tenors , tenors, basses and an organ scholar for the academic year 18/19.
Opportunities exist for gap year students (pre or post University) to spend a year working with the Portsmouth Cathedral Choirs, whilst working as departmental assistants at one of the country’s leading co-educational schools, The Portsmouth Grammar school. The year involves daily choral worship in the Cathedral, major concerts and BBC broadcasts, choir tours (Estonia, Belgium & Italy 2014/15) and recordings. Recent Portsmouth scholars have gone on to Christ Church Cathedral Oxford, King’s College London, Canterbury and Hereford Cathedrals as well as Guildhall, Royal Scottish and Birmingham Conservatoires.
Regular vocal/organ tuition provided. Accommodation available.
