Chief Operating Officer elected to national executive
At its Annual Meeting held on 4th November, our Chief Operating Officer, Richard Abraham was elected to serve on the nine member CAFA executive.
CAFA (the Cathedral Administration and Finance Association) was formed in the 1980's and is there to enable the mission and ministry of Cathedrals through effective and efficient business management. CAFA provides support across the cathedral network as well as advocating the case for cathedrals to the central Church and to Government. A member of CAFA, for example, sits on the Bishoprics and Cathedrals Committee ensuring the voice of cathedrals is heard as decisions are made that affect us.
Richard said, “It is a great pleasure to take on this role. CAFA, this network of COO’s and CFO’s, has worked quietly behind the scenes to manage our way not just through the pandemic, but to work to represent our interests to key decision makers. I am personally grateful for the support given to our Cathedral during the pandemic .
I would also like to acknowledge and thank Kathryn Blacker, the Chair of CAFA and outgoing COO of York Minster. Her kind and thoughtful leadership was instrumental in helping to guide all English cathedrals through the challenges of Covid-19. Few, if any, will know her here at Portsmouth, but we owe her a great debt of gratitude as she moves on to new challenges after nearly 10 year at the Minster”
