Schools & Groups

Portsmouth Cathedral welcomes school and college groups throughout the year, offering a range of guided tours, workshops, and learning activities tailored to your curriculum, from RE and History to Music, and Art.

Portsmouth Cathedral offers a range of educational visits for schools and colleges, including guided tours, workshops, and hands-on activities across all key stages. Sessions can be tailored to your curriculum needs and are suitable for a wide range of subjects and year groups.

All our visitors, whatever their age, are captivated by the history of our building and the stories of the people who have used it for over 800 years.

We offer guided tours, craft activities, learning workshops, singing workshops, and themed events — all designed to provide a memorable and enriching experience.

Activities and tours can be tailored to focus on different areas of your curriculum, including RE, History, Music, Art, and SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education). We can also create bespoke workshops to support the teaching of current topics across all key stages, as well as self-guided trail visits.

Examples of our workshops include Christian Symbols, Place of Worship, Illuminated Letters, Stained Glass Windows, and Christian Art. We can also offer sessions linked to the Christian festivals throughout the year.

Booking enquiries

All visits must be booked in advance, even if you don’t require organised tours or activities. There are times when the cathedral is closed or access is restricted, and we want to make sure your pupils get as much as possible from their visit.

For information on pricing, or to discuss and book your visit, please contact Diana Hutchins, Learning and Schools Officer, at diana.hutchins@portsmouthcathedral.org.uk.
