The Lunch Club Volunteer role at Portsmouth Cathedral involves supporting the delivery of a welcoming community meal for parish members, including some who may be vulnerable, by helping to prepare, cook, and serve food, as well as providing tea, coffee, and friendly conversation. Volunteers assist with setting up and clearing the space, welcoming attendees, taking payments, washing up, and maintaining a clean and organised environment, while working alongside the lead volunteer and staff. The role is suited to friendly, approachable individuals with an interest in supporting others and contributing to affordable, home-cooked meals, who can work as part of a team and follow instructions. Volunteering takes place on Monday mornings on a fortnightly basis during term time, and volunteers are expected to follow cathedral policies, including safeguarding and data protection, while supporting the cathedral’s wider mission as a welcoming Christian community.
