This role is integral to enhancing the experience of our visitors, with a focus on encouraging donations and supporting our volunteer welcomers and guides during peak times.

Portsmouth Cathedral seeks enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as part-time Visitor Experience Assistants. This role is integral to enhancing the experience of our visitors, with a focus on encouraging donations and supporting our volunteer welcomers and guides during peak times.
Primary Objectives
· Greet and welcome visitors to Portsmouth Cathedral, helping to provide an experience above their expectations.
· Implement a refreshed emphasis on articulating ‘the ask’ for donations and utilise a new group to test innovative solutions.
· Support the existing volunteer welcomer and guide team to manage increased visitor numbers during peak periods of the year.

· Assistant Vergers and Precinct Officers
· Shop Manager
· Volunteer Coordinator
· Learning and Schools Officer

· Other Cathedral staff including Ministry Team
Key responsibilities
· To manage visitor enquiries appropriately and courteously, escalating to colleagues when required.
· To provide basic/ad-hoc tours of the Cathedral.
· To facilitate an engaging and informative visitor experience, with a special focus on encouraging donations.
· To ensure that the Cathedral is prepared for visitors by completing a daily check list, in liaison with the vergers.
· To support the volunteer team in managing increased visitor numbers working collaboratively to provide an excellent visitor experience.
· To maintain a high level of personal appearance at all times when on duty.
· To work weekends and Public Holidays as part of your regular working pattern as required and be flexible as part of a team.
· To ensure Health and Safety policies are complied with in liaison with the vergers and Cathedral team.
· To follow procedures to ensure that the Cathedral is secure at all times and to use personal protection equipment as required.
· To undertake any other tasks and duties reasonably required by the Cathedral.
