On Maundy Thursday, Bishop Jonathan gathers with clergy and lay ministers from across the Diocese for the Chrism Eucharist, marking the beginning of the most solemn and special three days in the Church's year.
The Maundy Thursday Eucharist of the Last Supper recalls the profound acts of love and humility that Jesus shared with his disciples on the night before his crucifixion.
After the Maundy Thursday Eucharist, all are welcome to join us for the Watch of Prayer in the St Thomas Chapel, where we will keep vigil in prayer and reflection until midnight.
Join us on a Good Friday journey for all ages as we travel around the Cathedral, tracing the journey of Jesus to the Cross and on to the promise of Easter.
Join us at Portsmouth Cathedral for The Three Hours on Good Friday, a time of deep reflection on the suffering and sacrifice of Christ. This solemn service, led by The Very Revd Jane Hedges, will be structured around meditations, prayer, silence, and music, guiding us through the final moments of Jesus' earthly life.
You will have the opportunity to sing in the magnificent surroundings of Portsmouth Cathedral for this annual devotional service of Stainer's 'The Crucifixion'.
The Easter Eve Vigil is the first service of Easter, led by The Bishop, as we gather to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. This special service includes the lighting of the Paschal Candle, symbolising the triumph of light over darkness, and the renewal of baptismal vows.
A quiet and reflective service of Holy Communion following the Book of Common Prayer. This simple, said service includes prayers, scripture readings, and the opportunity to receive communion.
A special Easter Day service at #PompeySundays, our informal cafe-style service suitable for all ages. Followed by an Easter Egg hunt.
Our celebrations of the resurrection of Jesus, begun last night, continue with festal services today.
Our Easter Day services conclude with joyful music from the Cathedral Choir.
