During this year of challenges, loss, and disappointment, remarkable individuals from around Portsmouth have gone ‘above and beyond’ for neighbours, friends, and their communities. 

Portsmouth Cathedral, in association with Blake Morgan LLP and The Portsmouth News, will be celebrating people’s everyday acts of kindness both big and small with ‘Pompey Heroes’. A very special carol service for Portsmouth’s local superstars, taking place this December at Portsmouth Cathedral.

Residents of Portsmouth are being encouraged to vote for their ‘Pompey Hero’, inspiring people from all ages, walks of life and backgrounds. Whether your nomination be for frontline key workers or NHS staff, local volunteers or simply helpful next-door neighbours, no matter how big or small we want to celebrate their stories. ‘Pompey Heroes’ will honour those who have brought positivity and hope to our communities through this challenging year.

Anyone can be nominated to be a ‘Pompey Hero’, it may be for an ongoing commitment to local cause or charity, or simply from a single act of kindness. Frequently making sacrifices of their own to help make a positive impact to those in need, ‘Pompey Heroes’ aims to give back to those who give so much expecting nothing in return.

Nominees will be randomly selected to attend a celebratory carol service at Portsmouth Cathedral, with an evening of Christmas festivity, comfort, and joy, featuring the wonderful Portsmouth Cathedral Choir. This special carol service is just one of many concerts and services hosted at Portsmouth Cathedral this Advent & Christmas season, some of which will be available to livestream and enjoy from the comfort of your own home.
