Tim McIlroy - our trainee Reader on placement

From this Sunday, we will be welcoming Tim, a third year trainee Reader (or Licensed Lay Minister / LLM) for an eight week placement.

Although this is a strange time for us all, Tim will be joining in with our activities as much as possible. He will be with us on Sundays, Monday mornings, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and he introduces himself…

I am 61 years old. I have been married to my wife for 38 years and have two sons. I have struggled with my sexuality all my life and came out as gay about 16 years ago still living with my wife who has been my rock. I am also a recovered addict, now six years clean. Although I have always been a Christian, it was not till my recovery from addiction that I had a spiritual awakening which drew me into prison ministry. Licensed as an LLW [Licensed Lay Worker] in 2019, I am in my third year of training for LLM. I am looking forward to meeting and working with everyone at the Cathedral.
