A bold and welcoming new look for Portsmouth Cathedral
We are excited to reveal our new brand identity, which marks an important milestone in the history of Portsmouth Cathedral! We have spent the last eight months refreshing and redesigning our visual identity, and while our current logo and branding have faithfully served us for over a decade, our work, mission, and community have evolved and flourished during that time.
To capture and communicate our growth effectively, we embarked on a collaborative journey with our stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, members of our congregation, and external partners. We worked diligently together to determine the key ideas we wanted to portray—messages that truly reflect the essence of Portsmouth Cathedral.
We used valuable stakeholder data and feedback while working collaboratively with the creative agency New Century, situated in Somerset. Our Senior Management Team (SMT) carefully reviewed the agency's proposals and directions. This culminated in a bold new brand identity, that wonderfully reflects our sometimes quirky and always distinctive character while remaining true to our core mission of being 'A beacon, and safe Haven, anchored in Jesus Christ.'
This Sunday, 11 June, marks the digital launch of our new brand across our social media networks, website, and cathedral screens. During the summer, we will begin a comprehensive brand rollout, progressively changing signs, posters, wayfinding systems, and other tangible assets in a staged approach.
We are extremely excited to share our new look with the wider community, our vivid new identity reflects Portsmouth Cathedral's growth and originality, and we can't wait to begin this exciting new chapter.
