Lent Course 2023: Christ and the Chocolaterie
Come and enjoy our Lent course, written by Hilary Brand and based on the film 'Chocolat', exploring big issues about God, the world, and what it means to be human.
This course uses the film Chocolat (based on the novel by Joanne Harris) to explore big issues about God, the world, and what it means to be human. It is preferable to have seen the film before starting the course, so all are welcome to our Shrove Tuesday screening (see separate notice). If you can’t make this, we have DVDs for you to borrow, or you can stream the film at very low cost.
Each session includes extracts from the film, group discussion, questions, exercises and mediations, suggestions for individual reading and related Bible passages. Whilst there is much here to engage the mature Christian, it is easily accessible, and suitable for all: no previous biblical or church experience is needed. Why not encourage a non-churchgoing friend, or someone who hasn't been for years, to come.
The course will run for five Tuesdays, 28 February–28 March inclusive, from 7:00pm–9:00pm in Becket Hall (except the final session, which will be in the Andrewes Room). A vegetarian meal will be served each week.
Please sign-up here, the course is free of charge (donations for supper welcome but entirely optional). If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with Canon Kathryn.
