A lecture led by David Carpenter. The Assisted Dying Bill, a private member's bill, was published on 11 November 2024. MPs have been afforded the opportunity for a free vote following debate and discussion in the immediate future. Assisted dying embraces a very wide range of issues from deliberate euthanasia to the provision of drugs aimed at facilitating suicide. David will explore this complex territory from a philosophical perspective, focusing on the current bill and its content.

Rudimentary medical ethics
Jurisprudential matters
David is a well known member of the Cathedral congregation; he is a moral and political philosopher with a long career in the practical application of ethics, providing training for doctors and health care professionals for many years. David is vice chair, elect, of Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, Clinical Ethics Committee.
