Journeys Festival International - Exhibition (Thursday 18th October to Sunday 29th October)

  • Portsmouth Cathedral (map)

Returning for its third year in Portsmouth. As part of this arts exhibition in Portsmouth, Portsmouth Cathedral will again host ‘The Container Project’ - a 20ft shipping container on the Cathedral south lawn, which will be transformed into an artwork and innovative project or exhibition space for the duration of the festival.  Urban artists are commissioned to adorn The Container with incredible murals, sharing the themes and ethos of Journeys Festival International.  The Container is animated with exhibitions, pop up performance and workshop activity.

The Invisibles’ Journey: 8.30am – 6.00pm Fridays – Sundays and 8.30am – 5.30pm Saturdays

This exhibition in the Ambulatory presents paintings, drawings and prints realised by migrants who took part in arts workshops organised and facilitated at its day centre in Calais by the charity Secours Catholique, which works with the most vulnerable members of society to support them in times of crisis. It highlights the reality of their personal stories and their lives in transit. Whilst these individuals' mobility remains constrained, their works can circulate without limits.
