National Day of Reflection

Portsmouth Cathedral are marking the National Day of Reflection in a number of ways. You are warmly invited to join us in whatever way you wish to as the country marks the first anniversary of the coronavirus lockdown. The Cathedral’s opening hours will be extended from 10:00am to 9:00pm.

Visit to light a candle and leave a prayer - visit us at any point in the day outside of service times to light a candle and leave a prayer that will form a ‘cascade of remembrance’ above the altar in the Nave.

Join a service - Holy Communion at 12:00pm, Choral Evensong at 5:30pm and Sung Compline at 8:30pm. There is no need to book for any of these services.

If you are not able to visit the Cathedral, you are welcome to join in online:

Offer a prayer online - offer a prayer to be added to the ‘cascade of remembrance’ via our website.

Join our online memorial service - a special online-only memorial service will be broadcast on our Facebook and YouTube channels around 11:45am. The service features readings, music, poetry and a one-minute silence at midday.
