Join Florence, a local teenager, as she journeys with her mother to a remote Island – home to the oldest Albatross in the world – and discovers the beauty, diversity of nature there. Yet, not everything is rosy...something is affecting the Albatross population. What is it? And what can Florence do about it? Find out in this mini musical.

This short (under 1 hour) performance will entertain and highlight one crucial issue of our time. The performance will be followed by a very short interactive session – suitable for adults and children – aimed at motivating Portsmouth and the South East to be active in our response to the plastics crisis.

Florence and the Mermaid’s Tears is a new musical, written for churches across South-East Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The production tackles the subject of plastic pollution and climate change, providing an accessible and lively way to engage with climate change issues prior to COP 26, and is suited for anyone aged 5+. The story is church-friendly and aligns to Christian values.
