Telling God’s Story in Rock & Pop
Rock and Pop music have never seemed obvious partners of the churches. Often rock and pop stars challenge all the moral codes the churches are seeking to promote. But this is to miss some of the theology hidden away in contemporary music, music which is so important for our society and culture. In this talk Graeme Smith will examine some of the most recent research discussing the theology in the music of Lady Gaga. Come and find out if you are a ‘little monster’!

Professor Graeme Smith is Programme Leader for the MA in Theology, Imagination and Culture at Sarum College and a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Winchester. He is also a Canon of Honour of Portsmouth Cathedral.

The Sarum Cycle, a series of 13 painted meditations on Christ’s Passion by Nicholas Mynheer, will be on display at Portsmouth Cathedral throughout Lent and Easter.
