Read More20 December marks the anniversary of the death in 1696 of Thomas Heather, he had been Vicar for 33 years, and had overseen the rebuilding of the church following the Civil War damage that the building had sustained in 1642.

Read MorePortsmouth Cathedral is delighted to welcome a grant from the Cathedral Choirs’ Emergency Fund. The Fund brings together support from the Cathedral Music Trust, The Ouseley Church Music Trust, and the Choir School’s Association together with donations from thousands of members of the public. The grant to Portsmouth Cathedral will provide a lifeline to over 70 musicians across all three of our choirs, safeguarding our choral tradition and regular pattern of sung services until summer 2021.

We are sorry, though, that some will no longer be travelling to the Cathedral because they live in a lower tier area. Many of our Christmas services are live-streamed, and all are welcome to join us in worship in this way.
