Join us to mark Rogation Sunday as we walk the boundary of our Cathedral Parish after the 11am Choral Eucharist.
We will set off at approximately 12.15pm and follow the parish boundary along the seafront to Clarence Pier and then through the City to the Guildhall. We take the train one stop from Portsmouth and Southsea Station to Portsmouth Harbour and, if you wish, the Gosport Ferry across the harbour and back. We then walk round outside the Dockyard and up to the International Ferry Port.
It is a fun occasion of walking and talking together, starting and ending with prayer as we ask God's blessing on our Cathedral parish and all those who live within it.
Practical considerations
The distance one way is about 3½ miles. You can walk back to the Cathedral if you are feeling fit (about 1½ miles direct) or there are buses or taxis.
The walking route is outdoors so please bring suitable clothing. We also recommend you bring a drink, suncream and a sandwich.
Please note that you will need to pay for the train ride and Gosport Ferry. If you would prefer not to sail, you are welcome to picnic by Portsmouth Harbour and rejoin the group for the final part of the walk.
Beating the Bounds will take place in line of with Coid-19 guidelines. Necessary precautions include walking in separate groups of six en route, and maintaining social distancing throughout.
There is no need to book, but please help us to plan by emailing Canon Jo Spreadbury if you intend to come.
