Maundy Thursday: Eucharist of the Last Supper

  • Portsmouth Cathedral (map)

The service where we remember The Last Supper. Canon Tim Schofield continues his Holy Week preaching and music is sung by the Portsmouth Cathedral Choir

Portsmouth Cathedral warmly welcomes you to join us for our Maundy Thursday Eucharist of the Last Supper. The service recalls the events of the Last Supper, during which Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as a sign of loving service, shared bread and wine and instituted the Eucharist.

Our Holy Week Preacher, Canon Tim Schofield, will be continuing his series of sermons.

As is traditional, the service will conclude with the stripping of the altars and removal of all remaining decorative items from the Cathedral in anticipation of Good Friday.

After the service, you are welcome to stay for the Watch of Prayer which commemorates how Jesus and his disciples waited and prayed in Gethsemane the night he was arrested. The Watch will finish at midnight.
